PRISON VOLUNTEER TRAINING

AVP facilitators and participants entering a NM prison are considered volunteers. Volunteers entering all correctional facilities must have completed a volunteer training and have a badge. Attending a volunteer training session is based on preapproval of an application that includes a national clearance (NCIC); application includes a virtual service acknowledgement. After initial training, all volunteers submit a short renewal application annually. Applications are available online: https://cd.nm.gov/apd/volunteer_services.html An “onboarding” document provides details of the entire process. Email us for more information.

Scheduling of volunteer trainings by NM Corrections is currently being done on an as-needed basis. After approval of application, applicants are informed of training date(s).
